LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 13, 2012--
AECOM Technology Corporation (NYSE: ACM), a leading provider of
professional technical and management support services for public and
private clients in more than 130 countries around the world, announced
today that a joint venture in which it participates has been awarded a
two-year contract with the Illinois Department of Transportation for
engineering studies as part of a planned major reconstruction project in
the heart of Chicago.
Under the contract, the joint venture will identify the scope of
improvements, potential cost and construction schedule for the
reconstruction of the city’s Circle Interchange. The interchange carries
more than 300,000 vehicles per day. During 2010, the U.S. Federal
Highway Administration and the American Transportation Research
Institute identified the interchange as the No. 1 bottleneck among
highways crucial to the nation’s freight transportation system.
“AECOM is honored to partner and share its expertise with the Illinois
Department of Transportation and the local community on this critical
transportation-infrastructure project,” said John M. Dionisio, AECOM
chairman and chief executive officer. “The proposed project would drive
mobility and environmental improvements for Chicago’s residents and
visitors.”
The value of AECOM’s contract was not disclosed.
