Project part of contract with U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 23, 2009--
AECOM Technology Corporation (NYSE: ACM), a leading provider of
professional technical and management support services for government
and commercial clients around the world, announced today that it has
been awarded a task order worth $33 million to repair the remote
Eareckson Air Force Base airfield on Shemya Island, near the end of
Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.
The task order is part of AECOM’s indefinite-delivery,
indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract with the Air Force Civil Engineer
Support Agency to provide worldwide design-build and construction
services. The contract, which was awarded during 2008, has a contract
ceiling of $4 billion with a basic ordering period of 60 months plus
five one-year options.
“AECOM is proud to support this important program for the U.S. Air
Force,” said John M. Dionisio, AECOM president and chief executive
officer. “Through our partnerships with local Alaska-based
sub-contractors, we are able to positively impact the economy by helping
to sustain and create local jobs.”
The island’s runway suffers from severely deteriorated pavement, which
has become a significant foreign-object and debris problem for military
aircraft, and will be completely replaced during the short construction
season over two years. In addition, various components of the airfield
lighting system will be upgraded and/or replaced.
