Senator William H. Frist, M.D.
Senator William H. Frist was named to our Board of Directors in October 2014. Previously, he served as a director of URS Corporation from November 2009 to October 2014. Senator Frist has served as a partner at Cressey & Company LP, a private investment firm since 2007. He also served as Distinguished University Professor at Vanderbilt University from 2008 until 2010 and chaired the Smithsonian Institutions’ Board of Regent’s Audit and Review Committee from 2000 to 2002. Senator Frist was a United States Senator for Tennessee from 1995 until 2007 and was Majority Leader of the United States Senate from 2003 until 2007. He serves as a director of Teladoc Health, Inc. and Select Medical Corporation, where he serves on Select’s Audit Committee. Senator Frist serves on the boards of several other organizations, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, OneOncology, and Accolade LLC.
Senator Frist's experience as a legislator, including as former Majority Leader of the United States Senate, gives him the leadership and consensus-building skills necessary to assist our Board in a range of its activities. He has extensive knowledge of the workings of government and, as a former member of the Senate Finance Committee, of the federal budgeting process, which is beneficial given that a portion of our business activities are regulated and directly affected by governmental actions.
