AECOM awarded USAID contract for Southern Africa Trade Hub program worth up to US$82 million

LOS ANGELES, Oct 05, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

AECOM Technology Corporation (NYSE: ACM), a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, announced today that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded it a contract to implement the Southern African Trade Hub program (SATH) that is worth up to US$82 million.

USAID's SATH program will work to increase international competitiveness, intra-regional trade and food security throughout the Southern African community. AECOM will work closely with government entities to provide technical assistance to both public and private sectors. Areas of improvement designated under the contract include:

  • Alignment of regional and international standards
  • Compliance with regional and international market standards
  • Customs operations
  • Energy sector planning
  • Financial products and services for trade and investment
  • Improved transit
  • New trade and greater competitiveness in staple foods and other strategic value chains
  • Trade liberalization
  • Trade-related information and communications technology products

The contract has a period of four base years worth a total of US$65.8 million, with a one-year optional period that would raise its maximum value to US$82 million.
